Charles Golden

Dr. Charles Golden is Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Brandeis University. He has conducted research in Belize,
Honduras, and in Guatemala,most recently completing research
on the royal palace of Piedras Negras. His interests include the
political organization of the Prehispanic Maya, and the modern
social contexts of archaeology in Latin America.

 

 

A. René Muñoz

Dr. René Muñoz is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Nanjing University of Technology in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, People's Republic of China. He has conducted research in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Belize and Guatemala. He recently completed research on the  Classic Maya site of Piedras Negras, Guatemala, focusing on the proximate historical, social and political sources of change in the polychrome ceramics from that site. His interests include ancient Maya political organization, material culture change, and the history of archaeology.

 

 

Andrew Scherer

Dr. Andrew Scherer is Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Baylor University.  He has conducted archaeological field work in the United States and Guatemala, including the excavation and laboratory analysis of burials from the site of Piedras Negras, and recent archaeological investigations in the Sierra del Lacandón National Park.  He has also conducted laboratory analyses of skeletons from the Maya sites of Tikal, Colha, San Bartolo, and Kaminaljuyu.   His research interests include bioarchaeological approaches to ancient Maya diet, health,
population variability, mortuary practices, and the general
exploration of ancient Maya socio-political complexity.
